I have a Winchester 9422 M XTR .22 Mag and wanted to get the same gun in .22 and did not want to pay the extra money. I looked at the Henry, and it is a well made gun with a full throw lever, but the finish on the gun is no where near the Winchester. I came a cross a like new 9422 XTR for $600. and snapped it up 2 Sundays ago.

The name of course, 9422 implies that it's a .22 version of the Model 94, but we all know that's not true. Others point out that while it's not one of them either, it is in some ways more similar to the Model 92 than the 94.The BL-22 has a short throw lever, is light and nicely finished, and has good quality workmanship. Made in Japan. The Winchester is solid, heavier than the BL-22, nicely finished, but out of production, so expensive! Was made in USA. Marlin 39 is solid, medium weight, has good "Hunter/Shooter" grade finish.
