It also makes it easy to use policies that affect “cities not on your home continent.” (They also added “Seven Seas” in the same patch.) Sometimes it's multiple big oceans you can connect with good Canal cities and build a super trade empire. Sometimes it's 1 big ass ocean and naval strength is viable.I like Seven Seas because it works for every kind of civ. For the exploration side of the game, I like maps like Continents and islands, Archipelago, Island Plates or Small Continents where you discover the map with naval units, following the coasts. An other map I play often is Inland Sea.
